thanking my lucky stars

one of my million star prints
Well, Im more than a little late in doing a Thanksgiving post, but there is just so very much Im thankful for, that I can't help but do one now.  The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of activity (my excuse for lack of posting..eek), but I will work my hardest to catch you all up over this next week... I've missed the blogging world!  So, let's begin...
property of TJX corporations
Thanksgiving!  This is my Thanksgiving picture.  Actually, it is the layout for a TJX dish towel, designed by my talented friends, Stephanie and Caroline, from illustrations of veggies & herbs that I created for them a couple of months ago.  The happy, dancing veggies seemed most apt for one of my very favorite holidays (although, I seem to have missed my favorite veggie/Williams Thanksgiving staple, brussel sprouts! how could I forget?!).  To celebrate, I, once again, trekked out to Indiana with my family to visit aunts, uncles, cousins, and a very special Grandma.  This time around, my guy accompanied us, making it his first visit to the midwest, not to mention an opportune moment to announce our recent engagement!  Wahoo!  I felt so very lucky to have so many special people all together around the table for our delicious meal.  I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving with friends, family, fun, & (of course) feasting!!
I am also feeling very thankful(not to mention lucky) for two recent bits of publicity I received!  The charming Kristen of The Clothing Menu, recently featured me in her interview section.  Obviously, she is quite the talented gal, as not only does she write this great blog offering insights into the fashion world, she was also able to take my ramblings about freelancing, art making, & forging my own crazy path, and turn them into a coherent written piece!  Thank you so much, Kristen.
I think I have been reading the Globe magazine since I could read...and now Im in it!
And even more recently(on the Nov 27th, to be exact), I was surprised to find my name in the pages of the Boston Globe Magazine!  You may or may not know that I have dabbled in jewelry making for quite some time, with my preferred materials being broken bits of vintage baubles and vintage buttons (here is a link to my horribly neglected jewelry blog, Scout).  It was thrilling to see my vintage button cufflinks in good company amongst the Davis Square section of the Globe's holiday gift guide.  Apparently the shop has already sold out of the cufflinks in stock and the calls are coming in for more, more, more!  The rest of today I will be working my little fingers off to meet the demands, before heading out to a birthday concert(Im 25 today!) with my boyfriend fiance!

So, in conclusion, I am feeling like one very lucky gal right now.  I am so, so thankful for my wonderfully supportive guy, family and friends(so many of whom have already made my birthday beautiful with their warm wishes).  I am so thankful for being able to have my own place in this awesome little city.  I am so thankful for the network of creative people I have found here in Somerville and out there in the blog world.  And, I feel extra thankful that I get to wake up every morning, stroll into my little studio with some hot tea, and work with so many amazing and talented people (in so many different fields) that I truly respect and admire.

Hip, hip hooray!  Happy holidays!
